Stephenie Meyer was born in Connecticut in 1973, but grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and considers herself a native.

She went to high school in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was awarded a National Merit Scholarship, and she used it to pay her way to Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah.
