Halau wins overall by single point

It was an emotional moment for Hula Halau 'O Kamuela last night as they were announced the winners of the 2008 Merrie Monarch Festival.

Among those celebrating were, from left with the back of her head showing, Diamond Colello, Kristen Yamamoto, Kristen Nakamoto and Melody Yim. The halau, directed by kumu hula Kau'ionalani Kamana'o and Kunewa Mook, repeated as winners in the kahiko and 'auana divisions, and the halau took the overall winner honors by just a single point.
